Simon + Laura {engagement}

I met Simon about 9 years ago, somewhere we shall not mention, wearing something we shall not forget.
We both have came a very long way from those days. And I know we are very proud of each other’s accomplishments and goals.
I ran across Simon a few weeks ago on, what else but Facebook!?
After shooting around together and trying to teach him a few things (like I know what I’m really doing!??! lol)
I was asked to photograph him and his new love, Laura.

Here’s how the story goes…
Simon was on an iPhone app that tells you other iPhone users that are in close proximity.
Laura was on the same app.
The messaged each other and discovered they worked in the same building.
The rest has been a haze of kisses and cuddles.

I arrived to meet them at the studio and they were dressed so freeekin cute! They were adorable and I couldnt stop telling them so every 2 minutes!!
I really enjoyed our shoot and was overjoyed when I was asked to photograph their wedding next year…in EUROPE!! Wha, what?!?
Jessie Vernon – Big Time Louisville INTERNATIONAL Wedding Photographer!!    (TOTALLY joking!)

JVP – wha, what, wha, what!?

Real Deal Holyfield!!
Check it out!!!!!

Of course I lost one of the decals (2 actually before) I made it inside the studio :P
Took this with my iphone just to hurry up and post!! Too excited!!
I’ll take photos of the whole thing soon!
….Gotta get back to the Trolly Hop!

Mandy + Rob {engagement}

I arrived at Starbucks (of course!) and found Mandy and Rob already waiting for me. At a table outside, of course, a couple after my heart! :)
Mandy was a 2nd grade teacher, just completing setting her classroom up for her first year.
After I learned of Rob being in medical school at University of Louisville I told them about Project Tiny ( http://www.projecttiny.com/ ) and they were completely stoked about the whole idea and eagerly took a stack of my 5×7 cards to pass out at the hospital and school!

They were so laid back and so “whatever you want to do” – a photographers DREAM!! So naturally I could not wait to get my camera pointed at them at today’s engagement session!
As Mandy and I clomped, in heels of course) across the roof of the 5 story building, I questioned whether or not this was a good idea. But there was no telling them to turn around.
Through the sun beating down – they continued to make their way to the highest platform.

I looked past them and out to the city skyline and beautiful sun. They sat on the ledge, cuddling and kissing as I took test shots. Looking at 2x2in screen on the back of my camera, I was glad that I had this crazy idea and thankful for such an easygoing couple.

Lauren + Garrett {engagement}

I received a phone call from Lauren, who was from Owensboro, Ky and her fiance and her lived in Jacksonville, FL.
They were planning on a Kentucky themed wedding in Owensboro next May. Lauren was set on having her engagement session in either Louisville or Owensboro, as they were flying here the following month to visit. She decided on a horse farm or similar. I called Churchill Downs and found I was able to shoot outside the gate.
When I arrived I decided to venture inside (ask for forgiveness later) I was greeted by an old man who more than happily offered me a tour to show me where I could shoot!! Jackpot!!

Garrett’s flight was delayed, so by the time Garrett, Lauren, and her twin 16 year old sisters arrived, I knew Churchill Downs like the back of my hand.
Such a beautiful place for such a cute and giggly couple!

Ramon + Kendall {engagement} (kinda)

I met Ramon – when he responded to craigslist ad on which I was selling a camera flash.
He is not only a NICU fellow at a local hospital but also a fellow photographer who travels the world with his camera as well as his statuesque and smart wife, Kendall.

 Kendall met Ramon as they both attended Notre Dame. And they fell in love, got married, moved to Kentucky, and adopted a dog named D.
Huh? They what?
Yes, they got married!
Ramon called me inquiring about an engagement session because though they had been married for 3 years, they had just never gotten around to having one! Something they have always regretted!

So, after making an emergency trip to adopt another pooch, we rescheduled and had 2 sessions, One at Cherokee Park and the next at 21c Museum Hotel. (with the cool red penguins)

David + Natalie

Talk about a coiuple who knows how to have fun!!
David is from Cincinatti, Ohio and Natalie from Louisville, KY.
They met while attending University of Kentucky and currently live in Houston, TX.
Needless to say – their wedding party and attendees traveled from all over.
I wish you guys the best!!

I’m baaaaack!!

Sorry I was gone for so long….I have been SUPER busy with Project Tiny! www.projecttiny.org

A nonprofit organization that I started where photographers across the globe take photos of NICU babies at no charge to the parents. We repeat this up their coming home and at 1 year.

After having Jordin at nearly full term. I gave birth via emergency c-section to a Mikey at 32 weeks and Mia at 36. After looking back on almost losing Mia’s as well as my own life after a uterine rupture. My husband was out of town and I had accidentally deleted all the photos of her being delivered on my cellphone. I began to think about the heartache and guilt I would have felt had we not been so lucky. I was called to do this to celebrate not only my children but ALL children who enter the NICU doors no matter how complicated their little lives may seem.

I am very passionate about this, as is Raven Mathis of LMMP Photography- http://lmmpphotography.com/
who has been my “right-hand-WO-man” We have recruited many very special ladies to help coordinate their own states/countries. As well as many photographers in and even outside of the US!

MOMS Club

Today Jordin and I went to a playgroup/potluck with the great ladies and kids of a new group we have joined, MOMS Club.

I offered to take some shot of the kids while they ran around, played with “new” toys, and had sword fights with spatulas :)

I have a strong feeling if this playgroup took place at my house everything would have been destroyed. At least when I just have my 3, bookes are torn, couches ripped, milk spilled (or “sprinkled” on the carpet – thanks to Mikey), and the wals look like ancient cave paintings.

But E’s house and walls remained intact and unmarked…at least by the time we left.
